Family Background
Rahmah was born and raised in Nassuuti Village, Mukono District, as one of six children. Her family lived on a modest and unstable income. Their mother worked as a casual factory labourer, while their father, a part time performing artist, relied on occasional casual engagements. Although thei parents did all they could to send the children to school, meeting basic needs and paying school fees on time was often a challenge.
As a result, Rahmah’s education was frequently disrupted. However, her mother recognized her strong interest in traditional dance and consistently encouraged her to pursue it despite the family’s limitations. This support played a key role in guiding Rahmah toward joining Rockies Organization.
How Rockies Organization Stepped In
In December 2024, Rahmah joined Rockies Organization. The organization saw ppotential in her dedication and raw talent and offered her a place in both the education and performing arts program. She was enrolled at St. Andrew’s College, Ssanda, where she is currently (2025) in Senior One.
Through Rockies, Rahmah now enjoys full educational sponsorship, healthcare, meals, and secure accommodation, all of which have given her the peace and support she needs to thrive both academically and artistically.
Talent, Uniqueness & Achievements
Rahmah is a gifted and graceful cultural dancer, known for her energy on stage. She has mastered numerous cultural dances including Bakisiba, Nakasa & Muwogola(Central Uganda); Ekitaguriiro & Kizino from Western Uganda); Tamenha Ibuga, Irongo , Nalufuka, Samia, Mateso and Kadodi from Eastern Uganda; Larakaraka from Northern Uganda; and Zulu Dance from from Southern Africa.
She is also learning to play the Adungu, further enhancing her artistic versatility.
Aspirations
Rahmah aspires to become a midwife, driven by a deep desire to provide maternal care to women in underserved communities, especially those who cannot afford antenatal services. She also hopes to one day mentor other young girls through dance, just as she has been mentored at Rockies.
