Immaculate Namuhoya
Gender: Female
Talent Areas: Traditional Dance
Family Background
Immaculate was born and raised in Kaliro District, located in Eastern Uganda. She comes from a large family of 11 members—her parents and nine siblings. Her father works as a lumberman and farmer, while her mother runs a small grocery shop. Despite their hard work, the household income was insufficient to adequately support the entire family, especially in meeting the children's educational needs.
From an early age, Immaculate displayed a natural talent for dance. At just four years old, she began learning traditional dance from her paternal uncle, a cultural performer. As her skills developed, she joined the school choir during her primary education. Her dedication and talent earned her a bursary in Primary Five at Shami Bright Star Primary School in Mukono, where she later completed her Primary Seven.
How Rockies Organization Stepped In
After completing Primary Seven in 2024, Immaculate’s uncle set out to find opportunities that would further nurture her talent and support her education. His goal was to help her join a well-established and well-resourced dance troupe—one capable of developing her artistic potential while also providing educational sponsorship at a school with strong academic standards.
He approached Rockies, where Immaculate was given the opportunity to audition for membership. She showcased remarkable talent, with clear signs of a promising future as a cultural performer, provided her skills are well nurtured.
Immaculate officially joined Rockies in February 2025, gaining access to comprehensive support including education, healthcare, accommodation, and daily meals. She is currently pursuing her secondary education and is enrolled in Senior One at St. Andrew’s College, Ssanda, while actively continuing to refine her dance and music skills.
Talent, Uniqueness & Achievements
Immaculate is a talented and dedicated cultural performer with demonstrated excellence in six traditional dances. From Central Uganda, she has mastered Bakisimba, Nankasa, and Muwogola; while from Eastern Uganda, she skillfully performs Tamenha Ibuga, Nalufuka, and Irongo. She continues to work hard to expand her repertoire by learning additional dances from other regions.
What truly sets Immaculate apart is her ability, especially among girls, to play traditional musical instruments. She is an accomplished tube fiddle player and is steadily honing her skills in both dance and music, positioning herself as a well-rounded and promising cultural artist.
