Fedrise Nakyanja

Gender: Female
Talent Areas: Traditional Dance

Family Background

Fedrise Nakyanja was born and raised in Kiwanyi Village, Masaka District, in Uganda’s Central Region. She is the youngest of eight children in a family of ten. Her parents, both small-scale farmers, rely on modest agricultural earnings to support the household. With such limited income, it was always a struggle to meet basic needs—let alone consistently afford school fees for all the children.

From the time she started Primary One, Fedrise’s education was marked by uncertainty. School fees payments were often delayed, and the long daily walk to school proved especially challenging for a girl her age. . It quickly became clear that without external support, accessing quality education would be an uphill battle.

How Rockies Organization Stepped In

In 2019, Fedrise’s older brother—familiar with the work of Rockies Organization—approached them seeking assistance for her education. Although she was only in Primary One and her talent was just emerging, her passion for cultural dance was unmistakable. Moved by her story and potential, Rockies admitted her into the Education Sponsorship Program that December.

The following year, Fedrise was enrolled at ABC Divine Junior School in Mutundwe, starting in Primary Two. She was later transferred to Kampala Grammar Junior School, where she is currently in Primary Seven and proudly serves as the Head Prefect. Like all Rockies beneficiaries, she receives comprehensive support — including school fees, accommodation, meals, and healthcare. Theis support allows her to grow both academically and artistically.

Talent, Uniqueness & Achievements

Since joining Rockies, Fedrise has distinguished herself as a fast learner with a deep passion for cultural expression through dance. She has already mastered several traditional Ugandan dances, including Bakisimba, Nankasa, and Muwogola from Central Uganda; Ekitaguriro from Western Uganda; and Kadodi from the Eastern Region. She continues to train in more dances while maintaining a healthy balance between her artistic growth and academic pursuits.

Aspirations

Fedrise aspires to become a medical doctor, driven by a desire to serve underserved communities that often lack access to quality healthcare. She dreams of one day building a hospital to provide affordable medical services to those in need. In addition, she hopes to pass on her knowledge of cultural dance to other children, helping them use their talents as a stepping stone toward a better future.
